The Ruff Life PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) rescue is a non-profit organization.

All dog's are adopted out for a very minimal cost.

We do not make any money off of them. As you can imagine, having all these dogs can be very expensive because of vet bills & food.

For example: right now we are feeding 32 cups of food per day.

Donations are always appreciated and accepted. Any little thing will help these dogs have a better life & future.

Please help us, help them!

BENNY

(Border Collie X Australian Shepard)

Everyone Meet Benny!

Benny came to us at the end of June. He was born December.1st, 2009. He is a very handsome boy, that will always make you smile. He loves playing with dogs, and is a big suck that loves attention. Benny is a Border Collie/Australian Shepard Cross.

Benny thinks he rules the roost, so it will be very important for his new owners to establish leadership. Part of the reason he was given up, was because he was pacing the windows & house- barking and being eccentric. Benny was receiving very little- to no exercise, or stimulation-

Herding breeds are bred for stamina, brains, and drive. There for he will only be adopted out to an active home or farm. Taking him on long walks or letting him play in the yard, just wont cut it. He will mentally go crazy!

If you are an outdoorsy person, and spend a lot of time being active....this guys for you.

Benny is Not Neutered yet! So, he will need to have that done before he goes to his new home.

UPDATE:

It is now mid Sept, and Benny has come so far. He is now a VERY obedient man, and very well rounded with both dogs and people. He is such a sucky guy and loves his cuddle time. Benny was recently neutered, de-wormed and vaccinated, so he is ready to find his forever home. Benny was just at his first herding lesson last week, and proved to have a ton of stock sense. (If his new owners are interested in Herding). Benny is going to be really hard to say good-bye to, as he has touched our hearts! We really wish we could keep him in our pack~ but he deserves to be someones number one.

Bella- Adopted!

(Pitbull X Lab)

Everyone meet Bella. She is a 10-12 month old female Pitbull / Lab cross. (We think)

Bella is a VERY affectionate girl! Who loves people, and especially kids.

Bella was found on a Hwy, scared, skinny, and poorly socialized towards dogs. Her first foster home, did amazing work with her. She is finally putting on some weight and is starting to act like a dog again. <3

Bella seems very intimidated by dogs at the moment, so any new home would have to keep that in mind when wanting to adopt her. She is also an escape artist, and can climb 6 foot fences. We are working on this with her, but it will make adopting her a little more difficult.

Bella will staying at The Ruff Life for approx a month before she will go up for adoption. We will be working on her social skills, getting her comfortable with dogs, and making sure that she isnt pregnant.

UPDATE: Bella actually came into heat, when we had thought she might have been pregnant. Which is such good news! Bella was spayed yesterday. (Aug.12th) and will be ready to go in about 10 days- 2 weeks. Bella has come such a long way, and it is going to be so hard to send her off to her new life. She is such a darling, and has touched so many peoples lives. Inquires are welcome at this time.

Zeus- Availible for Adoption

We rescued Zeus back in the Winter of 2009 from a Vet Clinic where his owner surrendered him. He came with a ton of health problems that have now been "cleaned up". Zeus was extremely scared of people and snappy at almost every dog. He had no bowl or bladder control because of a health issue and because he was so scared when he came to us. From what we were told, he was given to his original owner at about 5weeks old, and because of the "issues" he had he was abused for not being "well behaved".

Zeus is now a confident and happy and healthy boy. We are happy to tell you that we plays with tons of dogs on a regular basis, and loves to get treats from new people. Zeus is known for the little noises he makes...and everyone who meets him falls in love with him almost immediately.

Zeus was adopted October 2011 to a young lady in the Vernon area. He has come so far in his short life...and is now enjoying be a spoiled only "Child". We still see Zeus on a regular basis, and am so happy to let everyone know he found his forever home!

UPDATE

Due to some un-foreseen circumstances, and health problems from the last owner. Zeus is now back under our care, and looking for his forever home. He is available for adoption. Serious inquires only please. This little man has been moved around to much- and he deserves to have a very stable environment.

Gucci~ May consider an adoption!

Gucci was surrendered by her owners Winter of 2010. Gucci came from a loving family that lived on a farm. She was displaying aggression towards people, and dogs. Her owners were not able to control the situation, so they decided to find her a more suitable home.

Because Gucci came from a farm she was not socialized to a lot of things, and is still antsy in some situations. Gucci is a very loving soul, very motherly. We are happy with her progress as she is now very comfortable and friendly with all of our daycare & boarding dogs. She will still be with us for a while, to make sure she is as stable as possible.

ELWAY

(Shepard X Border Collie)

Everyone meet Elway! He is in need of a forever home or a foster home ASAP. His owners are moving on Friday and do not want to take him to the SPCA. Elway has had a ton of training, and would just need someone to be consistent with him. He is approx. 19 months old, un-neutered Male- Shepard/Border Collie. He is very playful, loves kids, loves to swim. With this mix of breeds, Elway will need someone who is pretty active. So if you like the great outdoors....this dog is for you!

UPDATE: Elway was adopted to a wonderful family from Falkland! He is officially a country boy :) He spends his time relaxing on the deck, being outdoors, and playing ball~ Elway is the new "Denver Bronco Quarterback" :-) and is a great catch :-)

Everyone Meet Lola.

Lola is available for adoption to the right home. I have had the privilege of working with this beauty~ and If I could, I would take her in a heart beat.
Lola is 2.5 year old, spayed female-Wolf/Shepard Cross. She is a high energy dog, that also loves to be super sucky. She is really great with kids, but sometimes doesn’t know her own size.
Lola is looking for an active family.

Update: On March.15th'2011 Lola went to her new home! She now spends her days with her new owner, John! They are one of the best matches I have seen to this day- They spend time going to the dog park with friends, and doing all the outdoorsy stuff they both love to do. It really is a "Ruff Life" for Lola. She has settled in perfectly, and I cant wait to see this pair - and their friendship- grow!!

Dozer~ Not for Adoption

(Great Pyrenees x Border Collie)

We adopted Dozer (aka. Big D) from the SPCA in the Summer of 2010. We were told that he was going to be put down for dog aggression because he was fence fighting. When we got Dozer he was about 10months old. He had been in Dog Control and the SPCA for about 6-7 months. When we got Dozer he was very under socialized to EVERYTHING. He was scared of water bottles, doors, plants, dogs, us, storms and vehicles. I am assuming, he bolted from his original home during a storm because he used to bark and get stressed every time the wind blew. His under coat was pretty matted- so we shaved him. Poor guy.

We have been very happy with Dozer's progress, he is now amazing with all dogs- especially puppies. He is a gentle soul...and we couldn’t imagine him any other way. He brings smiles to our faces on a daily basis.

Lex came to us in the summer of 2010.

Yes! This is what he looked like when he showed up with his first owner. (Way to cute) Lex came from a loving family, but due to serious allergies that came up after they got him~ they had to find him a new home. Lex is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever worked with. He is a Red Nose Pit-bull- but I don’t think I have had an easier dog to train--come through The Ruff Life. He really is an angel. Lex (aka. Lexi or Sexy) spends his time playing with our daycare and boarding clients and cuddling! He loves his big brother Kilo. They spend countless hours snuggling

Kilo came to us in the Winter of 2009. He came from a very loving family, but had socializing issues~ and was very unsure and scared of new situations, places and a lot of different kinds of dogs. Kilo is our little snuggle bug~ he loves to cuddle under the covers...ALL DAY. Lol. He is known for winning over everyone’s heart and for being the "mascot" for my husband and his dirt bike friends....as he LOVES to run with them, when they go on a ride. Kilo has a permanent place in our family...and we love him dearly.

(Flat Coat Retriever X)

Meet Miss. Tilly! she is approx 1.5 years old, and looking for a forever home! We are thinking she is a flat coat retriever cross. She is one of the suckiest dogs we have had with us. Tilly is a pretty high energy dog, but when its time to ...settle down she is one of the sweetest dogs that just wants to cuddle. She is VERY keen, and just wants to please. She has already been through the Ruff Life Training...and her recall is amazing.
Tilly's food drive is also really high- so it makes training with her a breeze. We would honestly keep her if we could...as she is just a joy to have around.

UPDATE: Tilly has found her forever home, with a great family. She now spends her time keeping up with a beautiful Yellow Lab, Sophie, and two young children. She spends her time being a wonderful companion, and hiking in the bush with her new Mommy.
